Or at least my mom’s birthday which is on the 19th. We celebrated by going out for steamed Maryland blue crabs. If you aren’t from a place that eats crabs you won’t ever understand lol. It’s just one of those things that you either love or hate. For us having a pile of freshly steamed crabs to ‘pick’ and eat at our leisure is such a treat!
Now I bet you are thinking that her card had something to do with crabs…Nope! It did have something to do with my mom’s (and mine) other love, flowers!
I used a combination of silk and prima flowers for layers and I used my Copic markers to color them various shades of yellow. The 'greenery is just pieces of paper that I cut super thin with my trimmer and then wrapped around a pin to give it curl.
Here’s a close up of the flowers. I’m not usually one for trends in any part of my life as I always have just sort of done my own thing. The trend using flowers on cards right now is hot and it’s one that I can get behind! I recently updated the software to my Pazzles and am looking forward to cutting out loads of paper flowers to use!
For the card, the sentiment was actually stamped on the white card base and the layers were then cut out to frame it. I got the idea from Selma's Stamping Corner she makes some really beautiful cards! I used my Cuttlebug folders for embossing and my Spellbinders dies for the cut outs and the edge.
Hopefully soon it will be warm enough outside that I start seeing some real flowers blooming!
