The plan was to spend the day making Christmas cards, the plan did not exactly pan out. I don’t know why, I just couldn’t get going and not even the wonderful YouTube videos of crackling fireplaces with Christmas carols playing could get me there. I decided to plow my way through and try to break that creative block. I paid the price lol..
The first card was just using up scraps and while I like the peppermint look to it, the card seems to be missing something, I’m not sure what, but it just does.
The second card (which is sad that I managed to only eek out two cards!) gave me fits!
I had die cut that window for something else and ended up not using it and while going through my Christmas stamps I saw Ms. Holiday Cheer, a CTMH set that I bought years ago (it’s got a celebrating 25 years sticker on it) and she’d never been inked. I didn’t want her dress to be black though I wanted to make it red, I tried making a mask, I tried scotch tape, I tried so many ways to keep that dress from being black but something keep going wrong. After that didn’t work I opted for doing it in black but did that work, nooooo, the ink didn’t fill all the way in, once it came out fuzzy, like as in fuzz from the stamp pad. When I finally got a good image and started to color it bled. I refused to give up though and after, I lost count actually, many failures, I ended up with a useable image. She’s cute and I like the card okay, so maybe all wasn’t lost.
In case you are wondering why I’m sharing my bloopers here, it’s because I want people to know that mistakes happen. Things don’t always turn out on the first or twenty-first try. I know there are new stampers out there and I know as a new stamper it was easy to get discouraged when you keep making mistakes and when it looks like everyone is so perfect. I’ve been stamping as a hobby only for years and mistakes happen, but so does a lot of creative fun.
